The status: renewed. Netflix confirmed a second season of House of Guinness on August 24, 2026, so yes — Steven Knight’s Dublin dynasty drama is coming back. What is not yet set is a premiere date, and there are good reasons to expect a wait.

Below is where things stand: the official confirmation, what the new season is likely to cover, who is returning, and when it could realistically land.

Is House of Guinness renewed or canceled?

Renewed. On August 24, 2026, Netflix officially ordered a second season of House of Guinness, the historical drama created by Steven Knight — the writer behind Peaky Blinders. The renewal follows a strong debut season that Netflix positioned as one of its marquee prestige launches.

“It was such a joy to bring the Guinness story to the screen, so I’m beyond thrilled to be continuing the story of one of the world’s greatest dynasties into Season 2,” Knight said in the announcement. He has described the show as a story about “a family growing up together,” promising to dig deeper into the siblings’ fractures and alliances the second time around.

What Season 2 could cover

Season 1 opened in Dublin in 1868, in the aftermath of the death of patriarch Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness, as his four children maneuvered over control of the brewery and their own tangled secrets. Knight has said there is “so much more” to explore with the Guinness siblings, and that the next chapter will follow how they change — and what stays the same — as the family’s brewing empire keeps expanding across Dublin and New York.

Expect the second season to widen the power struggles between the brothers and to push the family’s ambitions further into the late 19th century. Knight frames the saga as a study of a dynasty maturing under pressure, closer in spirit to a period Succession than to a straight historical chronicle.

The show draws on the real Guinness dynasty, one of Europe’s most enduring family businesses, so there is no shortage of historical material to mine — expansion, marriages, rivalries, and the collision between old money and a rapidly modernizing world. Knight has been careful to call the series inspired by, rather than a documentary account of, the family’s history, which gives the writers room to heighten the drama the way Peaky Blinders did with its own period backdrop.

Why the renewal was expected

A second season was one of the safer bets on Netflix’s slate. House of Guinness arrived with a marquee creator, a built-in comparison to one of the streamer’s most successful British dramas, and the kind of glossy, character-driven storytelling that travels well internationally. Netflix leaned into that pedigree in its marketing, and the renewal — landing less than a year after the premiere — signals confidence that the show can become a durable franchise rather than a one-off.

When could House of Guinness Season 2 premiere?

Netflix has not announced a release date. What we do know is that production is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with Alyssa McClelland set to direct and Knight returning as writer and creator. Given that filming will not even start until 2027, a 2028 premiere looks like the most realistic window — though Netflix has not confirmed anything beyond the renewal itself. Treat any specific date circulating before an official announcement as speculation, not fact.

Who is returning

The ensemble is expected to bring back its core cast, led by Anthony Boyle as Arthur Guinness and Louis Partridge as Edward Guinness. Emily Fairn, Fionn O’Shea, James Norton, Jack Gleeson, Niamh McCormack, Danielle Galligan, and Ann Skelly have all been listed among the Season 2 cast. As with any multi-year gap between seasons, final casting can shift, but the central sibling group is set to anchor the story again.

Where to watch House of Guinness in the US

House of Guinness is a Netflix original, and its eight-episode first season is available to stream in the United States on Netflix right now. It is included with every subscription tier — Standard with Ads ($8.99 a month), ad-free Standard ($19.99), and Premium ($26.99) — so there is no extra charge to catch up before Season 2 arrives. If you are new to the show, the first season is the place to start.
