On February 27, Prime Video drops a wild new unscripted experiment led by comedy duo Eric and Ramzy. The show, retitled here as Simply a Fan, looks like a classic behind-the-scenes reality competition, but it’s actually a long-form hidden-camera prank centered on one devoted fan who has no idea what’s really going on.

A fake production that feels totally real

The premise of Simply a Fan is deceptively simple: four big fans of Eric and Ramzy are invited to join them on location in Spain. They believe they’re being flown in to watch the making of a new series and to compete in challenges to earn the title of “biggest fan” and a promised prize of €20,000.

For five days, everything around them looks and feels like a legitimate shoot: sets, crew, on-camera moments, and a game structure that seems made for streaming. What they don’t know is that the production itself is entirely fabricated. The supposed set, the situations, and the people they meet are all part of a carefully written deception.

Only one of the four participants, a fan named Boris, is genuinely in the dark. Every other person involved is an actor playing a role within this elaborate setup. Dozens of hidden cameras — around forty in total — capture Boris’s reactions from every possible angle, turning his journey into the narrative spine of the show.

A long-game prank built like a story

Instead of relying on short, disconnected gags, Simply a Fan stretches the prank over several days and treats it like a continuous story. Each scene is designed to feed into the next, creating a sense of escalation that’s closer to a scripted series than to traditional prank clips.

The show leans on a large ensemble of performers who help reinforce the illusion and keep Boris fully invested in what he believes is a genuine experience. Among the on-screen talent involved in the ruse are:

  • Laurent Lafitte
  • Hafid Benamar
  • Niels Schneider
  • Youssef Hajdi
  • Jean-Pascal Zadi
  • Laura Felpin
  • Melha Bedia
  • Marc Labrèche

Their participation allows the production to stage unpredictable situations while maintaining just enough realism for Boris to never suspect that everything has been engineered around him.

Why Eric and Ramzy are the perfect fit for this concept

Simply a Fan taps directly into Eric and Ramzy’s love of absurd situations and meta-humor. The show constantly plays with the line between truth and performance: on one side, the very real emotions of a fan who thinks he is living a dream, and on the other, two comedians orchestrating a prank that doubles as a narrative experiment.

Prime Video positions this project in line with its broader push for hybrid formats: part scripted, part reality, and deeply immersive. This makes the show appealing both to fans of hidden-camera comedy and to viewers who enjoy story-driven unscripted content on U.S.-available streaming platforms.

Starting February 27, Prime Video subscribers in the United States looking for unconventional reality entertainment will be able to see just how far a prank can go when it is designed as a full-fledged story rather than a quick gag.

Key details for viewers

When can you watch Simply a Fan?
The show becomes available to stream on Prime Video on February 27.

What is the core idea behind Simply a Fan?
Four fans arrive on what they believe is a real set in Spain and take part in a competition, but the entire production is fake and exists solely to prank one of them.

Are Eric and Ramzy present throughout the show?
Yes. They are central to the setup and actively participate in the staging and execution of the prank.

FAQ

Is Simply a Fan a scripted series or a reality show?
It’s a hybrid format: the situations and characters are scripted for everyone except one real fan, whose genuine reactions drive the reality side of the show.

Do the fans know there is a hidden camera element?
The fans think they are part of a regular TV-style competition set on a working production, not a hidden-camera prank. Only after the storyline plays out do they discover the truth.

How long does the prank in Simply a Fan last?
The prank unfolds over five days, during which the fake production, challenges, and interactions are carefully orchestrated to maintain the illusion.

Who will enjoy watching Simply a Fan on Prime Video?
The show is aimed at viewers in the United States who enjoy hidden-camera formats, narrative-driven reality experiments, and the offbeat comedic style of Eric and Ramzy.
