Nocturne Season 1 on Apple TV: Full Release Schedule

Nocturne, Apple TV’s ten-episode crime thriller starring Liev Schreiber and Stephen Graham, premieres Friday, October 30, 2026, with its first two episodes. After that, Apple releases one new episode every Friday through December 25, 2026, so the full season plays out over nine weeks.

That staggered rollout matters if you are planning your fall viewing: this is not a binge drop. You get the two-part premiere up front, then a weekly appointment on Apple’s streaming service all the way into Christmas. Below is the complete, episode-by-episode release schedule in U.S. time, followed by what the show is, who is in it, and where it comes from.

When does Nocturne come out on Apple TV?

The series debuts on October 30th with Episodes 1 and 2, then moves to a one-per-week cadence every Friday. Apple typically makes new episodes available at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET on their release day, so West Coast night owls get it first and East Coast viewers wake up to it. The season finale is set for December 25th.

What is Nocturne about?

Liev Schreiber plays Jonah Lynn, a former soldier turned homicide detective who is worn down by the streets of Philadelphia and moves his family to a quiet town in western Pennsylvania in search of calm. The quiet does not last. The town, and Jonah’s household, fall into the sights of Jurek Walter (Stephen Graham), a methodical serial killer whose last missing victim forces Jonah to put his adoptive daughter, FBI agent Saga Bauer (Zazie Beetz), on the trail. The season turns on how far Jonah will go to protect the people he loves.

It is a slow-burn, cat-and-mouse thriller rather than a procedural, and the marketing leans hard into the psychological duel between Schreiber’s detective and Graham’s killer. For Graham, the role is a quick return to prestige television after the acclaim of Adolescence.

Who is in the cast?

• Liev Schreiber as Jonah Lynn
• Stephen Graham as Jurek Walter
• Zazie Beetz as Saga Bauer
• Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan, and Gary Carr in supporting roles

Tim Van Patten, a multiple Emmy winner whose credits include Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones, directs the first two episodes and executive produces. Rowan Joffe created and wrote the series for television, with John Hlavin serving as showrunner. It is produced for Apple by A+E Studios in association with Range Studios; Schreiber is among the executive producers, and Beetz produces through her company Sleepy Poppy.

The books behind the show

The series adapts the Joona Linna crime novels by Lars Kepler — the pen name of Swedish writing couple Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril — drawing principally on The Sandman and Lazarus. The serial killer Jurek Walter is a central figure in those books; for the screen, the story has been transplanted from Scandinavia to small-town Pennsylvania, and the detective Joona Linna becomes Jonah Lynn. The saga has sold tens of millions of copies and been translated into dozens of languages. The show was originally developed under the title Lazarus before being renamed Nocturne to avoid confusion with another recent series of the same name.
