Spoiler warning: this article reveals the full ending of Drawn Together, including its final twist. Turn back now if you have not finished the film.

Drawn Together ends not with a resolution but with a trap: Marfil is abducted in a parking garage after her captors discover that her necklace is a hidden listening device, and the bodyguard she fell for is exposed as an undercover FBI agent. The film closes on a deliberate cliffhanger designed to hand you straight to its planned sequel, so nothing is truly settled by the time the credits roll.

Here is what actually happens in the finale, who is really working for whom, and what that last scene sets up.

How to watch Drawn Together in the US

Drawn Together (Spanish title Enfrentados: Marfil, meaning “Facing Off: Ivory”) has been streaming worldwide on Prime Video since September 9, 2026, and is available in the United States with English audio and subtitles. Directed by Óscar Pedraza, the romantic thriller is an Amazon MGM Studios production adapted from Spanish author Mercedes Ron’s best-selling Enfrentados novels. It stars Ester Expósito — the breakout of Netflix’s Spanish hit Elite — alongside Hugo Diego García. For US viewers, it slots neatly next to the glossy, high-stakes romance thrillers that have performed well on the service, and its short, twist-driven runtime makes it an easy weekend watch even if you have never read the books.

The setup: a kidnapping, then a bodyguard

Marfil Cortés (Expósito) is the daughter of Alejandro Cortés, a powerful Spanish businessman, and she is living a privileged life in New York when she is briefly kidnapped and then released with no explanation. Rattled and unsure whether it will happen again, her father hires a bodyguard, Sebastián (García), to shadow her around the clock. What begins as friction between a sheltered heiress and the man paid to control her movements slowly turns into a charged, dangerous romance — the “facing off” the Spanish title promises.

The central twist: who Sebastián really is

The romance is built on a lie. Sebastián is not simply a bodyguard — he is an undercover FBI operative, and his real assignment is Marfil’s father. Alejandro’s fortune is tied to drug trafficking, and the bureau planted Sebastián inside the family to build its case. That reframes every tender moment: the man Marfil trusts most is there to bring down her father, and possibly her whole world.

The film also pays off a seemingly minor early encounter. The charming stranger Marfil meets at the horse track is revealed to be the antagonist, Kozel — the figure orchestrating the danger circling the Cortés family rather than a harmless flirtation.

The ending explained

In the finale, Kozel discovers that the necklace Marfil wears is a covert listening device — the FBI’s ears inside the family. That discovery collapses the operation. Marfil is ambushed in an underground parking garage; before she is taken, she manages to signal danger using the pre-arranged code word “ébano” (Spanish for “ebony”).

When Sebastián and his colleague Ray reach the scene, they find only her phone — and Alejandro’s body in the trunk of a car. The last shot leaves Sebastián surrounded by armed men, his cover blown, Marfil gone, and her father dead. It is a total reversal: the protection detail has failed, the romance is compromised, and the villain holds all the cards.

Readers of Mercedes Ron’s source novels will notice the adaptation diverges here. In the book, the sequence resolves differently — Sebastián sedates Marfil and drives her to Newark Airport, where she boards a plane to live under Kozel’s protection in Miami. The film keeps the destination ambiguous, holding its reveal for a follow-up.

What the cliffhanger sets up

That code word is not a throwaway. “Ébano” is the title of the next chapter: the ending directly seeds the sequel Drawn Apart (Enfrentados: Ébano), which the cast has teased as darker and more extreme. Expect the next film to pick up with Marfil in Kozel’s custody and Sebastián racing to recover both the operation and the woman he was never supposed to fall for. In other words, the abrupt final scene is the point — Drawn Together is engineered as the first half of a two-part story.

Frequently asked

Is Sebastián a real bodyguard?

No. He is an undercover FBI agent assigned to investigate Marfil’s father, Alejandro, for drug trafficking. His role as her bodyguard is his cover.

What does the code word “ébano” mean?

It is Spanish for “ebony,” and it doubles as a danger signal between Marfil and Sebastián. It is also the title of the sequel, Enfrentados: Ébano, released internationally as Drawn Apart.

Does Drawn Together have a sequel?

Yes. The cliffhanger sets up Drawn Apart (Enfrentados: Ébano), continuing the story adapted from Mercedes Ron’s novels.

Where can I stream it in the United States?

Drawn Together is available on Prime Video, streaming worldwide since September 9, 2026, with English audio and subtitles.
