Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is streaming on Netflix worldwide, including the United States, as of August 31, 2026. It is the direct sequel to 2021’s Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, which is also on Netflix — so with a single standard subscription you can watch both films back to back, no theater trip and no separate purchase required.

If you are new to this corner of the Gundam universe, the short version is simple: two films, one streaming home, and one older classic worth watching first for context. Below is the exact order to watch in, where each piece streams in the U.S., and what the new movie actually delivers.

Where to watch and what it costs

Both Hathaway films stream on Netflix in the United States. Every plan tier includes them, so your cost depends only on the subscription you already have:

Netflix planMonthly price (U.S.)Video quality
Standard with ads$8.99Up to 1080p, two devices
Standard$19.991080p, ad-free, two devices
Premium$26.994K Ultra HD, four devices

The correct watch order

These films sit inside the Universal Century timeline, and the story picks up threads from a 1988 classic. You do not strictly need the older film to follow the plot, but it explains who Hathaway is and why his choices carry so much weight. Here is the order:

2Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway2021Netflix
3Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe2026Netflix

Char’s Counterattack is where a young Hathaway Noa first appears and where the previous generation of heroes exits the saga. It streams on Crunchyroll in the U.S. rather than Netflix, so it is an optional side trip — but a rewarding one. The two films that carry the current story, Hathaway and The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, are both on Netflix.

Start with the original Netflix film to set up the world. Here is its official trailer:

What the new film is

The Sorcery of Nymph Circe runs 108 minutes and is the second installment in the planned Hathaway trilogy. It opened in Japanese theaters on January 30, 2026, and has taken in about $18.4 million at the box office to date. Director Shukou Murase returns from the first film, working from Yasuyuki Muto’s screenplay, which adapts Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Hathaway’s Flash novels — Tomino being the creator who launched the entire Gundam franchise in the late 1970s. The Netflix release lets U.S. subscribers watch it at home after its theatrical run, without waiting for a physical release.

Here is the trailer for the new film:

The story so far

Hathaway Noa secretly leads Mafty, an insurgent group waging war on a corrupt Earth Federation. In the new film he is planning a strike on the Adelaide Conference to take out crooked ministers, but his resolve is unsteady — worn down by trauma and by his tangled feelings for the enigmatic Gigi Andalucia. On the other side, Federation Colonel Kenneth Sleg is hardening his defenses, including the elite Circe Unit assembled to wipe Mafty out for good. It is a heavier, more grounded strain of Gundam: political thriller first, mecha spectacle second.

The Japanese voice cast includes Kensho Ono, Reina Ueda, and Junichi Suwabe. On Netflix you can watch in the original Japanese with English subtitles; check the audio menu for a dubbed track in your region.

What sets the Hathaway films apart from most of the franchise is tone. The mobile-suit battles are brief, brutal, and shot for weight rather than spectacle, and the drama leans on adult stakes — guilt, compromise, and the cost of political violence — instead of the coming-of-age arcs that anchor many earlier Gundam series. That makes these two films an unusually accessible entry point for newcomers who have never touched the wider Universal Century timeline, even if longtime fans will catch the deeper callbacks.

Do you need to have seen the first film?

Yes, ideally. The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is a direct continuation, not a standalone. The 2021 film establishes Hathaway’s double life, his relationship with Gigi, and the stakes of his campaign against the Federation. Since both films are on Netflix, the easiest path is to watch the 2021 film first and roll straight into the sequel the same evening.

Frequently asked

Is Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe on Netflix in the U.S.?

Yes. It has been streaming on Netflix worldwide, including the United States, since August 31, 2026.

How long is the movie?

It runs 108 minutes.

What order should I watch the Hathaway films in?

Optionally start with Char’s Counterattack (1988, on Crunchyroll) for background, then watch Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway (2021) and The Sorcery of Nymph Circe (2026), both on Netflix, in that order.

Do I need a special Netflix plan?

No. Both Hathaway films are on every U.S. tier, from Standard with ads at $8.99 a month up to Premium at $26.99, which adds 4K.

Is there a third film coming?

The Hathaway story is structured as a trilogy adapting Tomino’s novels, so a concluding chapter is the expected finish. No U.S. streaming date has been set for a third film.
