The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres on Prime Video on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, and it will not all arrive at once. Prime Video is splitting the eight-episode season across three Wednesdays, opening with a four-episode block and saving the finale for November 25.

The short version: four episodes on day one, two more a week later, and the final two to close things out. Below is the full episode-by-episode schedule, the expected US release time, and exactly what you need to stream it.

Season 3 runs eight episodes. The premiere front-loads the story with four episodes, then settles into a two-episodes-per-week rhythm for the back half. Every drop lands on a Wednesday — a shift from the Thursday-night pattern of the first two seasons.

EpisodesRelease dateExpected US time
Episodes 1–4Wednesday, November 11th12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET
Episode 5Wednesday, November 18th12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET
Episode 6Wednesday, November 18th12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET
Episode 7Wednesday, November 25th12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET
Episode 8 (finale)Wednesday, November 25th12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET
Amazon has confirmed all three release dates. It has not published an exact clock time for Season 3; the times above reflect Prime Video’s usual overnight slot for the series and may shift.

How the three batches break down

November 11th — Episodes 1–4. The premiere is the biggest single drop of the season, giving you roughly a third of the run in one sitting. If you only have time to catch up once, this is the week to do it.

November 18th — Episodes 5–6. The middle pair keeps the two-per-week cadence going and sets up the finale.

November 25th — Episodes 7–8. The season ends the Wednesday before Thanksgiving with a two-episode finale, so the last chapter is a long one.

Where to watch

Season 3 is a Prime Video exclusive in the US — it is not on Netflix, Max, or anywhere else. You can stream it with a Prime membership, which costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year and bundles Prime Video with the rest of Amazon Prime. Amazon also sells a standalone Prime Video plan with ads for about $8.99 a month, and an ad-free Ultra add-on runs a few dollars more. Prices are current as of this writing and can change at checkout with taxes and promotions.

What to expect in Season 3

Season 3 pushes Middle-earth toward the moment the whole show has been building to: the forging of the One Ring and the open war between the Elves and a fully revealed Sauron. Morfydd Clark returns as Galadriel and Charlie Vickers as Sauron, with Robert Aramayo back as Elrond and Daniel Weyman as the Stranger.

The new season also expands its cast. Eddie Marsan joins as the Dwarf lord Thráin, and Simon Pegg provides the voice of the Balrog. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay have said from the start that they mapped the series as a five-season story, which makes Season 3 the midpoint of the arc rather than a wind-down.

If you are new to the show or need a refresher, the two-episodes-a-week back half gives you natural catch-up windows — the premiere block alone is a substantial re-entry point before the November 18th and 25th drops. Seasons 1 and 2 are both streaming on Prime Video, so there is time to rewatch before November 11th if you want the earlier Sauron and Numenor threads fresh.

The staggered rollout also shapes how you watch. The four-episode premiere rewards a binge, while the final two Wednesdays turn Season 3 into appointment viewing right through the week of Thanksgiving. If you would rather avoid spoilers, the gaps between batches are short — a week each — so staying current is manageable.

Here is the official Season 3 trailer from Prime Video:

Frequently asked

How many episodes are in Season 3? Eight, the same count as Seasons 1 and 2.

Is it weekly or all at once? Both. The first four episodes drop together on November 11th, then the remaining four roll out two at a time on November 18th and November 25th.

What time do new episodes go live? Amazon has not confirmed an exact time for Season 3. New episodes of the series have typically gone live overnight, around 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET, so expect them in the early hours Wednesday.

Will there be a Season 4? Prime Video has not renewed the show for a fourth season as of this writing, though the creative team has publicly described a five-season plan.

Do I need to watch it on a specific device? No — Prime Video streams on phones, tablets, smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, all included with your Prime Video access.
