Mousetrap is streaming now on Netflix, where all 10 episodes landed at once on Friday, August 28, 2026. It is a South Korean psychological thriller, watchable in the US with any Netflix plan — from $8.99 a month for Standard with ads up to $26.99 a month for Premium.

There is no weekly wait: the full season went live worldwide, including across the US, at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET. Here is where to stream it, what it costs, who is in it, and why a Korean thriller about a stolen identity is worth clearing your weekend for.

When did Mousetrap come out?

Mousetrap premiered Friday, August 28, 2026, with its complete 10-episode run available immediately. Netflix released the whole season in a single drop rather than staggering it week to week, so you can watch at your own pace. Episodes run roughly 50 minutes each, and the series carries a mature rating for violence and language, in line with the darker end of Netflix’s Korean slate.

Where to watch and how much it costs

Mousetrap streams exclusively on Netflix in the US and in nearly every country where the service operates. A subscription is required, and current US pricing runs $8.99 a month for Standard with ads, $19.99 a month for the ad-free Standard tier, and $26.99 a month for Premium, which adds 4K Ultra HD and up to four simultaneous streams. The series plays in its original Korean with English subtitles, and Netflix also offers an English dub — switch either one from the audio-and-subtitles menu.

What Mousetrap is about

The setup is a slow-tightening nightmare rather than a shootout. Moon Jae is a reclusive novelist who barely leaves his apartment, and his carefully controlled life starts to unravel over something tiny: his phone stops recognizing his fingerprint. Small glitches pile up until the assistant who handled his day-to-day affairs vanishes, and Moon Jae discovers that a stranger has quietly stepped into his name, his bank accounts, and his identity. The man erasing him goes by a single chilling nickname — the Rat.

The show is adapted from the webtoon Field Mouse by Ludvico, itself rooted in an old Korean folktale about a rat that takes human form by swallowing a person’s fingernail clippings. That folk-horror foundation gives the thriller its unsettling logic: identity here is something that can be consumed and worn by someone else, and proving you are who you say you are turns out to be almost impossible once the records say otherwise.

Because the season arrives all at once, it is built to be binged, and the mystery-box structure rewards it — each episode peels back another layer of how the theft was engineered and how far it reaches. This is a spoiler-free guide, so we will leave the turns for you to find, but expect a story that keeps narrowing rather than sprawling: fewer characters, tighter walls, higher stakes as it goes.

Who is in the cast?

Ryu Jun-yeol headlines as Moon Jae, the writer whose life is stolen out from under him. He is one of Korea’s most reliable leading men, familiar to international audiences from the beloved series Reply 1988 and a run of acclaimed films. Opposite him, veteran actor Sul Kyung-gu plays a hardened loan shark pulled into Moon Jae’s spiral, and Lee Kyu-hyung rounds out the principal cast. Behind the camera is director Kim Hong-sun, who works in tightly wound genre television, from a script by Lee Jae-gon. It is a pairing of a bankable star, a heavyweight character actor, and a director comfortable with dread — the reason the series carried real anticipation before a single episode aired.

Why this Korean thriller is worth your time

Identity-theft stories usually play out in banks and courtrooms. Mousetrap drags the idea into horror territory, asking what happens when the theft is total — when the world simply agrees you are no longer you. That premise, plus a cast this strong and a director who knows how to ratchet tension, is why it landed as one of the most anticipated Korean series of the late-summer slate.

It is also the kind of title English-language coverage tends to overlook until it is already climbing the charts. Netflix’s Korean thrillers have a habit of starting quietly and turning into global word-of-mouth hits, and a self-contained, high-concept mystery is exactly the shape that travels. Getting in early — before the ending is everywhere — is half the fun.

Frequently asked

Is Mousetrap on Netflix in the US? Yes. It is a Netflix original and streams in the US the same as everywhere else, with no separate purchase.

How many episodes are there? Ten, all released together on August 28, 2026.

Is it released weekly? No. Netflix dropped the entire season at once, so there is no episode-by-episode schedule to track.

Is there an English dub? Yes. You can watch with the original Korean audio and English subtitles or switch to the English dub from the playback menu.

Will there be a Season 2? Netflix has not announced one. Mousetrap is built as a self-contained adaptation of the Field Mouse webtoon, so treat it as a complete story unless the platform says otherwise.

What is it based on? The webtoon Field Mouse by Ludvico, which draws on a traditional Korean folktale about a rat that assumes human form.
