Where to watch and what it costs
Reacher streams exclusively on Prime Video. Access comes with an Amazon Prime membership, which in the US costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year, or with a standalone Prime Video subscription at $8.99 a month. Prime Video now plays limited ads by default; an ad-free upgrade runs an extra $2.99 a month. All four seasons live on the same service, so you can catch up on the earlier books before the finale.
What Season 4 is about
Season 4 adapts Gone Tomorrow, the 13th novel in Lee Child’s long-running series, and it is the show’s most espionage-heavy chapter yet. The story starts small and personal: a chance encounter on a New York City subway car goes wrong, and Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) finds himself pulled into a tangled, dangerous investigation that reaches far beyond one train ride. True to form, the political intrigue does not come at the expense of the fistfights — the season leans into conspiracy while keeping the bone-crunching action the show is known for.
Ritchson returns as the ex-military drifter who cannot walk past trouble, once again using his size, his tactical mind, and a strict personal code to pull a thread until the whole thing unravels. We are keeping this spoiler-free, so we will leave the specifics of who Reacher crosses and why for the episodes themselves.
The pivot toward political intrigue is the season’s big swing, and early reactions have framed it as a risk that pays off — a heavier, more paranoid Reacher story that still delivers the physical set pieces fans show up for.
Do you need to watch the earlier seasons?
Not really. Each season of Reacher adapts a different Lee Child novel and tells a self-contained story, so Season 4 is a reasonable jumping-on point. That said, the show rewards regulars with returning relationships and running character beats, so if you have the time, the first three seasons — all on Prime Video — add context and are worth the binge.
Why Reacher is one of Prime Video’s biggest hits
Reacher has been a tentpole for Prime Video since its 2022 debut, built on a simple, durable formula: take one Lee Child novel per season, cast Alan Ritchson as the unstoppable drifter, and let the mystery and the mayhem do the rest. The result is a show that works equally well as appointment viewing, one episode a week, or as a weekend binge once a season is complete — part of why each new run lands near the top of the streaming charts.
