Pride and Prejudice, Netflix’s new six-part adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel, premieres on Thursday, December 3, 2026. In the US it streams only on Netflix, where new titles go live at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET, and you can watch it on any plan — the cheapest starts at $8.99 a month.
That is the quick answer. Here is everything else you need before December 3rd: the release details, how many episodes there are, who is in it, and what each Netflix plan costs.
Release date and time
Pride and Prejudice arrives on Netflix on December 3, 2026. Netflix releases its titles worldwide at the same moment, which in the US means 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET — so East Coast viewers can start just after midnight Pacific, early Thursday morning.
One detail Netflix has not confirmed: whether all six episodes land together on December 3rd or roll out on a weekly schedule. Netflix limited series usually release in full on day one, but the streamer has not stated how this one will be structured. We will update this guide once it does.
Platform and price
The series is a Netflix exclusive, so a Netflix subscription is the only way to watch it in the US. As of this writing, Netflix offers three plans:
- Standard with ads — $8.99 a month. The cheapest way in; includes ads.
- Standard — $19.99 a month. Ad-free, with downloads.
- Premium — $26.99 a month. Ad-free, the highest streaming quality, and the most simultaneous screens.
Any of the three will play Pride and Prejudice; the differences are ads, video quality, and how many people can stream at once. Prices are current as of this writing and can change.
Cast
Emma Corrin, of The Crown, stars as Elizabeth Bennet, opposite Jack Lowden, of Slow Horses, as Mr. Darcy. Olivia Colman plays the matchmaking Mrs. Bennet and Rufus Sewell — fresh off The Diplomat — plays Mr. Bennet. The ensemble also includes Freya Mavor, Louis Partridge, Jamie Demetriou, and Daryl McCormack.
Who made it
The adaptation was written by Dolly Alderton, best known for Everything I Know About Love, and directed by Euros Lyn, whose credits include Heartstopper. It is produced by Lookout Point, the BBC Studios company behind Gentleman Jack and War & Peace. Emma Corrin also serves as an executive producer. This is a fresh six-episode take on Austen’s 1813 novel, not a continuation of any earlier film or series.
What makes this version different
There is no shortage of Pride and Prejudice on screen — the 1995 BBC miniseries with Colin Firth and the 2005 film with Keira Knightley both still cast long shadows. Netflix’s pitch is a six-hour run that gives the full novel room to breathe, more than a two-hour film allows, under a writer known for sharp, modern takes on romance.
Alderton has described the project as a faithful adaptation rather than a reinvention, and the first-look footage leans into the familiar: Elizabeth Bennet’s wit, the Bennet household’s marriage-market anxieties, and the slow-burn standoff with Darcy. The teaser Netflix released is dialogue-free, trading on mood and a handwritten letter rather than plot — a deliberate echo of the 2005 film’s visual language.
For viewers deciding whether to make room for another Austen adaptation, the draw here is the cast depth. Corrin and Lowden are both coming off prestige-TV runs, and the supporting bench — Colman, Sewell, Partridge — is unusually loaded for a period romance. If you want to go in cold, the novel and the earlier adaptations are the obvious homework, but none of it is required: the series stands on its own.

Will all six episodes drop at once? Netflix has not confirmed. Its limited series usually release in full on premiere day, but the schedule for this title has not been announced.
Which Netflix plan do I need? Any of them. The $8.99 Standard with ads plan plays the series; higher tiers remove ads and raise the video quality.
