John and the Halogram cross that bridge, which behaves like a wormhole, and arrive on the planet Antaan. The world is now a wasteland: a gas that triggers uncontrollable fear had driven its inhabitants to kill one another or themselves. John feels the effect firsthand, hallucinating his father and reliving the traumas of his childhood before he nearly turns his own weapon on himself — only for the Halogram to stop him. It’s a harrowing sequence that ties the season’s cosmic threat directly to its most intimate theme, fear and the inheritance of pain.
Sinestro is waiting on Antaan
After crossing a lake, John and the Halogram reach a facility that is still occupied. A hooded man tries to take the Halogram hostage, not realizing it isn’t a physical being. John strikes him as the projection vanishes, and the man reveals his identity: Sinestro. The appearance links several of the season’s dangling threads. Sinestro has escaped his prison, and Hal secretly possessed a way to reach the exact planet where he is hiding. The episode pointedly does not say whether Hal helped him, was hunting him, or had a hand in stranding him on that world.
Hal Jordan’s death is still unexplained
Given the family history, the Halogram raises the possibility that Hal died by suicide — but nothing in the episode confirms it.
